First I made sure I had recent releases of make, binutils, etc. Then I
downloaded, installed and untarred the kernel-source-2.6.8 package.

Para los núcleos 2.6 hacen falta las librerías QT para make xconfig. Creo que
el paquete es libqt3-mt-dev, pero no estoy seguro

En fin, nada, que ya lo he hecho con el make menuconfig, pero estaria
interesante saber que librerias son ...
Busca por google, linux make xconfig qt, algo saldrá, seguro que muuchas
otras personas han tenido la misma duda.
También puedes usar el servicio de búsqueda de paquetes de Debian

Mira yo siempre he visto que pare ejecutar make xconfig hacen esto antes:

danach dann noch etwas an der Kernel-Config ändern möchte?

Compilar o kernel pela maneira Debian é muito fácil. Porém, preencher de forma
correta todas as opções do make xconfig é um problema muito grande.
Alguém conhece documento ou página da internet que explique de maneira prática
o que cada opção significa?
