I've apt-gotten 2 revisions from unstable, and it overwrote my

The installation from .debs went very smoothly. I recommend using .debs

Hello,
I see that XFree 4.2.1 has made it into unstable a few weeks ago. I
am curious, has anyone tried to install it? How has that gone? Would you
say it's better to install from the unstable .debs or manually using the
XFree installer?
Thanks

unsucessfully.
Could somebody supply idiot-proof instruction on getting
4.2 going?
PS I suspect my laptop needs some specific stuff of its own,
but installing xfree 4.2 seems to be a necessary first step.
Thanks very much for any help.

Hi all,
Since I installed XFree 4.2 (Branden packages), I noticed that my bttv
modules are autoloaded at boot.
After investigation, I conclued this is due to "v4l" module.
Does any one have the same effect ?

Hello,
You can try xf86conf or xf86config (i don't remember) that will write a

I always use this file and move XF86Config-4 somewhere as

Hi,
I recently bought a MSI MS-6368 mainboard, and although Xfree 4.1 does
support the Trident Microsystems CyberBlade/i1, it is somewhat flaky
(see below). So, I wanted to try out Xfree 4.2.
I did not want to install XFree 4.2 the way XFree suggests

I'll try it, thanks a lot ;-)

So... Being one of those who has an unsupported video card in wody I
somewhat boldly installed the unofficial debs from:
deb http://chunk.mp3revolution.net/~aaronl/x ./
Everything works great... Except the following:
1.can't run several Gnome apps.(see extended text)
2. No text in the title bar
ard absolutely needs XFree 4.2, post to this list again
(or e-mail me) after woody comes out and I'm sure there'd be more than
enough people willing to help you get X working :)

Sorry for popping in, but I have made a little observation that I have to
