since my last aptitude upgrade, xlock shows a logout button 10 minutes
after having locked my Xserver. I think this is a new feature since I
don't remember having seen this behavior before.
I haven't found a way to disable the appearance of the logout button,

David,
In what way is it heavyweight? I generally use xscreensaver, which
runs as a daemon; 'xscreensaver-command -lock' locks the screen.
Pretty graphicy things run as separate processes, so I think starting
it up should be pretty cheap.
My debian system has about 12'000 files installed already.

Hi,
Busy day here... I checked xlock's man pages but couldn't find anything

1. Can I put an original text msh in xlock's screensaver as in:
xlock -mode text "Back 10 mins"
2. Can I put in an or

Hello,
My machine using potato is configured so that the xscreensaver turns on
when I am inactive. However there are other times when I use xlock to
lock the display manually. When I do this xscreensaver kicks on and I
am forced to enter my password twice.
The problem is that a plaintext copy

I have a program that I want to run only while my PC is unattended. I
don't need the screen locked necessarily.
xlock does this for me:
xlock +nolock -startCmd startsetiathome -mode blank
but I have to run it manually. When I log back in, it does kill the
running command (startsetiathome)

Hi,
does anyone know how to get xlock to pass the keypress to
the calling process when not in lock mode? i.e. when xlock starts
over a login prompt the first character pressed that stops xlock also
gets passd to the login?
Is there any other x screen savers that might do this?
Cheers, Ben

I got strange behaviour of xlock after recent updates of hamm. I lock the

I have some questions related to xlock:
1. In `xlock -mode random', one of the modes is the Linux logo. It is (I
think) supposed to bounce around the screen. Instead, it just sits there, and
also seems to stop the `random' rotation of modes. Why does this happen? Is
there a fix? I

that still doesn't solve the problem of it not being able to rea

I have xlockmore installed on my system here with shadow turned on.
I know it's supposed to work (because other machines on our localnet
are configured seemingly exactly the same and xlock works there).
griffon:~> ls -l /etc/passwd /etc/shadow /usr/bin/X11/xlock
-rw-r--r-- 1 root
The man page says this option may not be available. Is it available?
I've tried playing around with xlock's resources to no avail. If it
is available, is the resource I need to be playing with
"Xlock.logoutAuto".
Thanks
