since my last aptitude upgrade, xlock shows a logout button 10 minutes after having locked my Xserver. I think this is a new feature since I don't remember having seen this behavior before. I haven't found a way to disable the appearance of the logout button, neither in the man page n

David, In what way is it heavyweight? I generally use xscreensaver, which runs as a daemon; 'xscreensaver-command -lock' locks the screen. Pretty graphicy things run as separate processes, so I think starting it up should be pretty cheap. My debian system has about 12'000 files installed already.

I have a program that I want to run only while my PC is unattended. I don't need the screen locked necessarily. xlock does this for me: xlock +nolock -startCmd startsetiathome -mode blank but I have to run it manually. When I log back in, it does kill the running command (startsetiathome)
