A friend of mine is setting up Debian (and Linux for that matter) for
the first time. He has a T1 at work and only lowly 28.8 at home. He
got the base install done and then, having gained an understanding of
what a debian package is, said, "Ok, so now I've got my base system
up. I'm going to download the next set of packages I want from here
at work, so just tell me what packages I need to get man pages, the
C/C++ compiler, and a good editor." No problem, I thought. I guessed
that there'd be a dpkg command line option which would take a known
package (or packages!) and generate a list of packages which satisfy
the dependencies. No such luck. Is there such a thing and I just
don't know about it?
