When I run dselect and select update, apt runs through my sources.list
updating its Contents, and then I get the following error:
dpkg: parse error, in file `/var/cache/apt/available' near line 7311 package
`blt':
`Replaces' field, reference to `blt-dev': error
As a followup to my last email, I believe the problem is in the way
the version number of the package blt-dev is written in the depends of
many other packages. In /var/cache/apt/available, the Depends: lines
that contain blt-dev always list the version number as "2.4[ij]-1 ".

Last weekend I tried to update my system (stable/testing/unstable).
After I resolved all dependency problems with dselect I called 'apt-get
dselect-upgrade' to install all the packages. I got a lot of messages
about unmet dependencies. All of them covered programs I have already

the pkgadd stuff is Solaris official, but if you're looking to manage
GNU software checkout "stow" (which is also available as a .deb for
your Debian box)
I use it to manage /usr/local/ on every OS with a /usr/local, it's a
perl script that allows orderly install and removal of software
packa
when doing apt-get upgrade or dist-upgrade, apt has been reporting that
base-config has been kept back, (it has been like this for several
days), and the only problem i have is that dselect will not let me
install any packages unless base-config is also installed, and when i
select base-config
there is a pkgadd and pkgrm tool for Solaris. Might want to hunt google for
a tutorial, but it is similar.

candidate would be apt, if it's there. Try putting the CDs in (no need to
