I just did an "apt-get source" in the course of gathering mise en

five minute solution.
First, I visited "debian/control", and used "C-space C-e M-w"[1] to

In Slink I could use my custom Afrikaans dictionary with both emacs

Hello Everybody,
For historical reasons I still like to use emacs_20.6 and I am just
experimenting with xemacs.
The problem is that for some global settings both programs make use of the
file .emacs.
I find this not so convenient and I would like emacs_20.6 to use the file
.emacs and I would

Does anyone know how to make and use a TAGS file when the source files
are gzipped? I installed the xemacs20-supportel package, which
installs all of the *.el elisp files in gzipped form. (I would guess
that emacs[19,20]-el also install the sources in gzipped form.) I
suppose I could simply unzi

Near as I can tell, this was sent to me but not to the list. Anyone out
there who can translate it for me? Thanks!

Uh, isn't "console-based graphical " an oxymoron? How could

Hi all,
I can use emacs to browse the web now...
But xemacs is not working... It says cannot load w3-el/w3.
Any ideas??
By the way, can I use emacs to display the image(i.e. like
netscape, not lynx)??
Thanks...

I didn't received the original message yet, so I answer to the

Why do the emacs and xemacs packages conflict under debian? I wanted
to try xemacs, but had to "dpkg -r emacs" before I could "dpkg -i
xemacs"
Since I no longer have GNU emacs on my system, is it okay to make
/usr/local/bin/emacs a symbollic link to /usr/bin/xemacs?
Also, I got a few warning me

It appears that to pursue sgml in a free environment, authoring tools
are restricted to psgml via emacs or xemacs. Is there a preference with
respect to psgml? Further, is there a general preference in the selection
of xemacs vs. emacs?

Today I tried to install the emacs/xemacs packages from the hamm
distribution and I noticed that all the manual pages are screwed up. Some
of them are even linked to executable files.. anyone else have this
problem?
