durch respawn wird der pppd wieder neu gestartet falls er stirbt. nur mit dem

I have a Debian gateway system, doing pppd demand dialling. ISP gives
a new IP address with each connect. No problems with that - it works
as advertised.
My problem is that once up, it often does not shut down even when there
has been no traffic from me for longer than the set time-out period

ich habe hier einen alten k6 als Router laufen.
Seit Kernel 2.6.6 trennt der pppd immer nach der eingestellten Idle-
Zeit die Verbindung, auch wenn die Leitung aktiv ist (Traffic vorhanden,
getestet mit ping und wiederholtem abrufen einer Website). Mit Kernel
2.6.5 tritt der Effekt nicht

limpia de Woody en mi máquina, y resulta que ahora no me puedo conectar

Mir ist deine Konstellation nicht ganz klar, pptp kenne ich nicht. Aber pppd
versteht die debug und die kdebug Option, versuchs damit mal. Den
Verbindungsabbruch kannst Du ja mit atd und kill simulieren. Möglich, das
die
38400 verstehe ich auch nicht, für ein 56K Modem ist das zu langsam, nimm
115200.
es handelt sich um eine Österreichische adsl verbindung :)

persist müsste eigentlich funktionieren, weil
die verbindunung wird alle 8 h von der at telekom getrennt,
nur alle 2 wochen gibt es mit pppd probleme.

Hab für meinen DSL-Zugang keine fixe IP und die Verbindung zu meinem
Provider wird alle 8 Stunden gekappt.
Hab es mit dem Eintrag 'persist' und in inittab mit:
pppd:23:respawn /usr/sbin/pppd nodetach call provider /var/log/dsl 21
gelöst. Funktioniert soweit auch. Nur wenn der pppd

Il y a une option persist dans pppconfig, il suffit de l'activer et la machine
cherche à se reconnecter seule dès qu'elle perd la connexion.
