Hi,
I have been trying to get the RealNetworks' real video player working for
some time now. The g2 player in potato just segfaults and the realplayer5
deb does not seem to be available anymore. I am wondering if anyone knows
either a) how to get g2 to work or b) where I can find a rvplaye

Hi all:
Has anyone gotten Netscape call these with the right parameters when a
hyperlink for an appropriate file is clicked?
I have the following in the Netscape's setup:
for RealAudio: rvplayer %h
and similar for Adobe acrobat files, and it doesn't work.

Hi,
I just tried to use the rvplayer installer deb package to install
rvplayer.
I thought it will fix the problem of rvplayer in 2.2.* kernel.
But it still does not work. It opened up alright, but does not play at
all.

I'm having the same problem. I just reinstalled rvplayer from debian.org
as per the instructions, which included upgrading to xlib6g and
reinstalling netscape, but I'm pretty much right where I was before: if I
click on a .ram link, the RealPlayer pops up, but never does anything. I

Hi! Has anyone got the RealVideo player to work?
I got the .rpm package from www.real.com and debianized it with alien and then
installed it. Then I set it up with netscape as per instructions. (It didn't
come with the .class files for the plugin; so I had to get those from the
.tgz archive).
DMA channels, I set the first sb-dma to 1
and the second one to channel 3.

I downloaded the gnome 1.0 rpm-packages from ftp.gnome.org and used
alien to create deb-packages and then installed them via dselect.
so far so good - gnome looks just fine.

Yes, I'm aware of the sound bugs in rvplayer, but this seems to be
something else because from what I heard, the sound bugs simply prevent
you from hearing sound without actually causing rvplayer to segfault.
Here, it segfaults as soon as it accesses locale.alias

doesn't take advantage of specific kernel bugs as the current version 5.0
does.

I have installed debian on an new P-2 system that have the

Sound works fine but realaudio does not. The connection is being made,
but no sound is made, there is no error message.
Does any one how I can debug/test this problem.

Umm, no, they should be 660 root.audio. On a single user system, it
might not matter (much), but

I've installed rvplayer but it only works as root.
When I run it as normal user it gives error 72, expired
version. The user is in the audio group. I've installed it
from the slink version. Is there anything else I need to do?

Now, how do you get Netscape to invoke the rvplayer when I click on a
realaudio clip?
I installed both Netscape and rvplayer using the Debian package
installers. First Netscape and then rvplayer, if that matters.
Thanx in advance,

I have installed rvplayer-5.0 with the Debian package and it still

still no luck.) When I click on a link with RealAudio, I get a "Save

i had a similar problem; the solution for me was to add myself to the

Out of curiousity, where can I find the rvplayer 5.0 wrapper? I've just checked
in non-free/sound, non-free/web as well as the same categories in contrib.
Thanks.

Hello.
I have recently attempted to run the latest version of the realaudio/video
player under Debian, but it cannot find libg++.so.27. I searched for this file
using the search capabilities at http://www.debian.org/packages.html, but could
not find it.

I'm using RealPlayer 5.0 with bo. It does work. You just need to add
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path.to/rvplayer5.x
to your /usr/X11R6/bin/netscape script. You also need to make sure
that rvplayer is on your search path. I make a symbolic link from
