Solved ! Thanks to Ron Johnson who help me to identify the problem: It seems that in kernel 2.6.8 and later, I need the codepage 437 to mount vfat partitions. I chekcked my configuration in 2.6.6 and it was not needed. /usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.6 cat .config | grep -i 437 #
