Trivial first try like "xmess spectrum hobbit.sna" does not work.
I also find it very unfriendly that xmess/xmame turns Gnome
display to complete black. I have go to console (ctrl-alt-1) and
then back (alt-7) to fix the situation. A windowed version would
be nice.

run gears without any DRI stuff, I get 100fps, and with accell

and with it, I get 30-40 fps.
This is on a Duron 750 (kt133 chipset, RAM speed set to medium, cas3,
video 1152x864 32bpp). Anyhow, I was hoping to use xmame-gl

It's in unstable, but is a complete mess as far as getting it
synchronized on all architectures is concerned, so it can't get in
I noticed that xmame (arcade emulator) is in stable but not in
testing. Why is this? Or have I done something wrong (quite possible)?

I'm running Debian unstable and just downloaded all of the Xmame .debs.
Unfortunately I can't get Xmame to run. It seems as though the executables
were not included in the packages. Am I losing my mind or has anyone else
experienced this problem?

I just couldn't keep myself from installing new release of xmame from
woody. Although I have to install few new sound libraries, the result
is worth it! Sound is incredibbly crisp, few games that segfaulted in
a previous version (e.g. Robocop) now run without the flaw.

Just wondering if anyone has used xmame and if so what do you uzip the
