If so, why is communicator4-smotif_4.05-0bo0.11_i386.deb depends on ldso (=
1.9.7-0) ? My bo has only 1.8.10-2.

Yes, this is a bug (fixed in slink). pppconfig should depend on
debianutils 1.6. However, if you have hamm installed, you should have
debianutils 1.7. pppconfig
