Tem um modulo (smb_auth) que autentica no samba. Porque não utiliza ? Me parece que o ntlm é justamente para não pedir senha, mas para não pedir senha ele fica amarrado ao modelo windows e suas exigencias e usuarios autenticados em redes windows tem realmente essa qualificacao de dominio\usuario.
