As far as I can tell it doesn't recognize my Ethernet
card. It gives error messages when booting that
scroll
I re-installed Debian with the NE2000-PCI installed,
and now I don't see any error messages when I boot.
However when I type ping yahoo.com it just hangs.
I don't have any trouble under RedHat or Corel. Are
there any files from those I could look at that would
give me a clue on how to set it up
After installation my resolv.conf file was
search kc.rr.com
nameserver 192.168.1.2
I manually put in nameserver 192.168.1.1 but it didn't
make any difference. It still hangs on ping
Did you put the IP addresses of your nameservers in
/etc/resolv.conf?

I've been using Slink with a 2.2.14 kernel compiled to
allow power-off on shutdown. This morning I tried to
mount my windows partition and it complained about no
vfat support. I tried to recompile the kernel. I did
a make menuconfig and selected dos vfat support. Then
I did make bzImage. I
I'd recommend getting a good Linux book to help you
get started. Many of them include a Linux CD-Rom so
you can install it and practice with it. There is
also a lot of help online.
