Howdy Folks.
In case your just tuning in, I got some odd problems with my linux box.
I run libranet/debian 2.2 (potato).
Two problems: I have a linksys etherfast 10/100.
Doesn't work, tried tulip, tulip.old, generic, nothing works.
I have a pc-100 m598 motherboard. It has sound onboard,
Is debian set to use cd-rw from the install?
(IE. Do you need to simply install the necessary packages, or re-compile the
kernal?)

What have you heard of the libranet distribution? Is it pure debian? A good
dist. for newbies, or should you just go with the debian dist?

Hey, I just installed debian 3.0,
upgraded to testing,
put on a custom 2.4.20 kernel, with nvidia-glx all
up and running, and I am almost all
set. One thing though.
Every so often, things will slow to a CRAWL,
and then poof, go back to normal. WHAT IS THIS?
How can I stop it?
Whatever clever

I was wondering what the best way to install and then maintain debian is.
I have tried libranet, but not progeny or just pure debian (beyond 2.1 that
is).
I want a simple install, and hard-ware recognition on the level of mandrake
(they say they can get 3D support with an ati rage128 (2000),
Alright. Now I am down to thinking progeny would be the best to nab. But
here is what I don't know yet...
Are the downloads upgrades free from their servers?
Does anyone have any experience upgrading from progeny to woody/sid?
- Dan
I think the progeny installer, and software included makes

Howdy.
Seems I have a small problem.
XF 4.0 won;t run on my machine.
apt-get dist-upgrade does nothing (I am currently listed as woody, yet my

unless I am trying to install X of course ;)
I have an ATI Xpert 2000.

I fixed my problem with X.
I contacted libranet, and they gave me a setup util for use with potato. I
forgot the url, but I'm sure if you folks e-mail them, they will give it out
(if not, please tell me). (in case you were wondering about their distro, the
