the 'toram' is good if you have 1gb of memory. Though this may be for
using X with it, if you use the cheatcode '2' i.e., 'knoppix 2' it boots
with out X and is quite useable, will burn dvd-r, cd-r etc. Maybe
e, if it is present in a kernel version in
one distro it is present in another, i.e. , Debian. You may have to
manually insert the correct module if the install system fails to pick
it up. 'modprobe ' at a second vt.
Use a daily-build net-install disk to get an uptodate install d
my local lan. Dvdrip uses transcode to encode, very
processor intensive, i.e. it will use all you have, so the more you
have the faster it goes, amd64 x2 4400 takes about three hours for a
average movie length. You need debian.multimedia in your sources.list,
for libdvdcss. Nice gtk2 program.

The laptop pcmcia card issue is a trial an error issue, if Etch doesn't
support it, use sarge and do a minimal install, change your sources
list to Etch and do a full install. Use 'dpkg get-selections & 'dpkg

Linux users still have to ask about chipsets, which the average
