et depuis je ne vois plus mon fichier /boot/grub/menu.lst !!!
Pire le répertoire /boot semble vide. !!!
very strange, je peut faire un cd /boot mais un ls
-il un moyen de récupérer mon répertoire, ou est-il
définitivement perdu ???

i'm trying use a couple of Compaq TLAN cards in a system and i noticed
that when two cards occupy adjacent PCI slots they get hot and i mean
HOT!
this seems like a Bad Thing.

I have a CD with just audio only tracks, not music, just people
speaking. They are lectures.
I don't know what extension they have, but VLC won't touch them and
neither will totem.
Could anyone please tell me what package I need to be able to listen to
these audio files.

to do some operation (e.g. starting an xterm, or making Firefox react)?
htop shows that there is still plenty of memory and atop shows nothing

The Intel 855GM chipset performance has unfortunately taken a step or two
backwards from Lenny to Squeeze based on my experience and what I've read in
the bug reports and various forums. Specifically, on-line video streaming
becomes choppy after 3-4 minutes on the same websites that Lenny
issues since. wicd wpa work great, but something with
wpa2 just didn't work for me.

I downloaded all the files necessary (from debian homepage) to install
Linux on my computer, but when I tried to download the Linux kernel
image it first opens the file, which looks like machine code, then I did
a save as and my only choices are html or txt. How do I save the kernel
image?

of this, which was more than a little confusing. The final clue for
me was a kernel message (from dmesg) which said something along the
lines of 'ignoring BIOS chs settings'.

I deliberately keep mine fattened, but I believe that there's generally
an option to delete the .deb after installation, if you want to. Perhaps
you habitually say no?
