I am setting up an automatic installation using preseed. I'm using the
'd-i preseed/late_command string'
option to make it wget a script and run it.
My challenge is to make this script run in foreground because it is
interactive. How can I do that in d-i?

How do I set the locale for a user to something other than the one set by
debconf in the locales package?
This should be the user's default in X sessions.
I was told that gdm has a feature for this but I'm using kdm.

You can set up a name server in one the the hosts in the network, for example,
in the Debian box. I use dnsmasq for this because it is easy to configure and
it can also be a dhcp server.

evolution, apt wants to delete a huge
number of packages and update another long list:
Aptitude is the preffered package manager. You can use it's interface to get
all the information to answer many if not all of your questions.

reinstalling the guest additions over and over again until it

I use one of two packages for this; ntpdate or ntp.

I set the clock to local time because with VMware I boot M$ XP, which
isn't too smart about those kind of things.
But perhaps VMware is?

I don't think it is a matter of just a command. I installed Debian's
live-helper and that gets you scripts.
Is there a reason you cannot use Knoppix? In my experience that boots a
fine system faultlessly.
