qweb
I was wanted to install the qweb web browser, but it was asking for some qt1 package which I could not find in the debian 2.2 distribution. Where can I find this qt1 package? Attila
disable control+I
Hallo! Is it possible to force CTRL+I _NOT_ to produce a TAB? And can it be done on a general level; in every consol and X application? I am asking this becouse I am used to use CTRL+I for cuting text in a text editor, but now I can only make tabs with it. I have a similar problems with CTRL+M, and sometimes with CTRL+S (or was it CTRL+Q), but these keys are not so important like CTRL+I. Attila

modul installation problems
Why is it that, when installing the kernel moduls in debian 2.1 I had no problem installing the network card (3c509) and the printer (lp); I just hit the enter and the modul was installed, and now can not install the printer port, no metter what I do, the modul installation always fails. Az for the network card installing 3x509 sometimes the installation succeds, and sometimes not. When the installation fails, I have to restert the installation (and restart the computer to). After this the 3c509 installs just fine (by just hitting the enter)? Attila
3com 3c509 and the mouse
Hi! I have just installed debian 2.2 and I have a few problems :o) First, my mouse does not work. I can not start the X because it reports that there is no mouse. In consol mode there is also no mouse. Seems to me (a newbee) like the operating system does not even know that there is a mouse around. What is the procedure of installing a mouse? BTW. The mouse did work under debian 2.1. In consol it worked without any problem, and in X I just had to set the mouse type to auto in the XF86Config and it was ok. An the second question is, that after a debian session, Win95 almost always reports that my 3Com 509 does not work properly. Than I have to go to DOS, start the configuration program for the ehternet card, run the test, and return to Win. And only after this will the network card work again. I had the same problem with debian 2.1, and I thought that it will be gone with the 2.2 version. But it did not :o( I guess that there is some kind of a bug in the network driver? Attila
X and fonts
Some of these questions were probably discussed earlier, thus it would be enough (I hope) if someone would tell me where to look for the answerers. Where and how can I set up the fonts under X? I finally managed to make xterm use a little bigger fonts than the usual ones, but when I start some other consol applications (namely the fte editor) it uses the default little fonts again (maybe I screwed up something :o). I think that I am missing the general idea about the fonts. Can someone help me with that? And out of curiosity: what are the really necessary files (packages???) to run X? Attila
terminal programming
Are there some good texts (tutorials, faqs, anything?) on web about how to write terminal independent programs? I need to a make a very simple little text editor, so I need information on how to make fast routines that would write to a terminal, and how to interpret the data received form the keyboard. Attila
Re: X on a 486
AN Unfortunately I have only an old 486 PC on 120MHz. Is there AN window manager which is low on system resources so I AN could set up X on this 486? From, the help I've got, it seems that the problem is not with the window manager itself (since there are people who are using X with various window managers on weaker machines), but with the programs I use. I have set up fvwm and it ran quite ok. as long as I was using some little applications, but when I started Netscape. It lookd like the time had sopped. Would a memory upgrade help in this case?
