Howdy all,
I have been trying to get sound working on my Debian box all week. I've
compiled a new Kernel with all the features and settings. But when I
looked in /dev I couldn't find audio. Yes I have added /dev/audio
support to the kernel. I don't know what to do. If I don't figure out

Hey all,
I've noticed that there have been LOTS of posts for Word Perfect lately.
Well, here's another one. I downloaded and installed Word Perfect

Hey,
You can resume downloads in Netscape? How do you enable that? Whenever I
have to cancel a download, Netscape deletes the partially downloaded
file. Thanks.

Hey,
When your installation starts up (before it asks you if you want to use
color or not), check for a line that says: hdc (or hdd, it matters what
slot the wire from your CD-ROM to your I/O board) Mitsumi ATAPI
detected or something like that. If you see a line like that, you don't
need any
Hey all,
Just about finished totally installing Linux. Need some help with my
sound card. I compiled a new kernel with sound support. When the kernel
boots up it says Sound Initialized. But when I try to run a program
that uses sound it says /dev/audio device not configured. What do I
do? And
When I boot up my Linux box it get's stuck on LILO Loading Linux...

Howdy,
Yes there are .deb packages for KDE. Go to
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages and do a search for kde. I've
had KDE for about a day now and am loving it! Good luck!

Now that I got X up and running, I got a few questions.
1. How do I change the color setting from 256 colors to True Color?
2. Are there any nice, small, graphical web browsers that support a
proxy server?
3. Where can I get netscape and what are the procedures for installing
it?
4. If I'm

Hey all,
When I installed Debian, I accidentally installed the wrong NIC and
CD-ROM drivers. When I try to mount my cd-rom it keeps saying irq
timeout: status=0x50. My NIC is a PCI plug-and-pray card. Does Debian
support PNP?

Hey all,
Just successfully installed my first linux box with no problems. Now I
want to install KDE. In the KDE install guide, it says that I need the
Qt library. I downloaded Qt, untar-ed it. When I type ./configure (like
it says to do in INSTALL) it says:
Checking for a C-Compiler...
Thanks but when I dpkg the .deb file, it says qt1g depends on xlib6g.
Where could I get that? Thanks.

I'm new to Linux and for my first box, I think I'll try the Debian

Debian with on about 1 meg of free space on my hard disk. I partitioned
