Problem with X-CD-Roast

1998-01-08 Thread Mathieu Guillaume
Hi. It seems I am unable to launch X-CD-Roast: I always get the message Can't initialize the Tix extension. I have the xcdroast_0.96-1 and the tix41_4.1.0.6-1 packages installed. It's the first time I use either one, so I don't know if my problem is specific to those versions. Does anyone have

Re: xdm configuration

I had an identical experience setting up my 1.3 system: I chose not to enable xdm until after I had hand-tested my X config. Then when I tried to start it manually, it failed in the manner that you describe. You must run xbase-configure after you modify the config file, reinstalling

xserver_s3v

1997-04-23 Thread Mathieu Guillaume
I'm using the lastest xserver_s3v from hamm with a Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 (S3 virge chipset). I can't get it to work in 16 bpp mode with a screen size of 1024x768. Supposedly, that's because the former s3v specs only allowed a maximum rate of 80MHz in 16 bpp mode. Since then, S3 relaxed the

New login logs everybody

1997-01-10 Thread Mathieu GUILLAUME
Hi. It seems the latest login package now puts every login process in /var/log/auth.log, instead of the former root logins, su and login failures. Is there any way to revert to the former behavior without having to revert to the former package ? If so , which one ?

Problems with some packages

1996-12-08 Thread Mathieu GUILLAUME
Hi everybody. I've recently encountered two problems while using dselect : - gs-aladdin keeps downgrading after upgrading (in this case, it upgrades to 4.03-7 and almost imediately reverts to 4.03-6). - In the last batch of twenty or so packages I upgraded, one changed the files I had in

GhostScript and Magicfilter

1996-10-29 Thread Mathieu GUILLAUME
Since the last version of GhostScript was included in the distribution, I can't use magicfilter to automagically print my PostScript files. The reason seems to be : ghostscript now uses SVGAlib. To get I/O permissions for a 'base' user, it should then be set to +s I believe. Is that safe to do ?
