2.1 -> 2.2 apt-get dist-upgrade issue... SEG FAULT
I have a slink box running on kernel 2.2.17, and I have updated my /etc/apt/sources.list to point to potato 2.2 tree. I have ran apt-get update. Now if I run apt-get dist-upgrade, or anything else apt-get related other then update... it seg faults. Anyone care to explain what is happening?
re: Debian packages..
Hi, Problem I am having is with packages. I have an old machine that is still running Slink, and at this time I do not wish to upgrade it. With potato changing to stable, I have since modified my sources.list to reflect the fact that stable is not what I want, but rather slink deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian slink main etc etc I then do a apt-get update and to update my package lists. This works somewhat fine, the problem happens when I wish to install a package for slink, apt-get install package At this point it fails badly, because the stuff that I downloaded with apt-get update, all the paths in this file contain the path blah/dists/stable/binary-i386-package/net/ntop-3-4.deb Which means it will fail, as stable of course is now the potato tree, shouldn't the package list files change to reflect the codename of the release, rather then stable. As I wouldn't be having this problem. Can anyone tell me if the maintainers expect to update the package lists files for slink, so that the paths are right, as since potato is out, it FAILS big time. Please email me anyone if you can help me out. Thanks
debian 2.1/qmail 1.02
Hi all, I have qmail 1.02 running perfect on Debian 2.1 machine. I compiled the qmail stuff by downloading the src.deb package and running build-qmail etc. Anyways, what I want to know is, I have since grabbed the ezmlm source code from the author, and I am attempting to load this ezmlm on but it will not work. I get queue errors like the following; May 19 14:35:18 onyx qmail: 958710918.930959 delivery 6: deferral: ezmlm-send:_fatal:_temporary_qmail-queue_error Can anyone attempt to tell me what is wrong with ezmlm or qmail? I have changed nothing to the qmail install. Email me directly please as I am not currently on the list. Thanks Michael
re: php3
I have a php3 html file, and inside it has the mysql_connect blah stuff, ie which mysql server to use and what username, but what is syntax for putting in a password.. I can't seem to manage to get my php3 script to logon using a username pass to the database.. Any help would be appreciated.. I have searched the docs/manuals and still no luck. Reply to me directly, since I have not rejoined the list. Michael

re: 2 lan cards..
Hi all, Quick question.. I am unable to find in the archives any help for the problem I have.. I have a machine with 2 ethernet cards, problem is they are both different brands/models. I have both cards compiled with module support. ie. ne.o (ne2000 isa clone) and 3c509.o (3com), how do I tell the kernel via lilo and /etc/modules which card/module should be loaded on what irq/io. 3com set as irq 10, io 300 ne200 set as irq5, io 320. Any help would be good. If the cards were the same brand I could do it no problem, as I have another machine with 2 x 3com's and the driver compiled into kernel. Then I just tell lilo via append line in lilo.conf about io's for each eth0 and eth1 device. But being 2 different cards, and both compiled as modules, I am a little stuck. Please email me directly back, as I am no longer on the mail list. Thanks

By any chance, you don't happen to have IDE power down set in bios.. if so turn it off.. might fix your problem -Original Message- From: Andrew Clark <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: debian-user@lists.debian.org Cc: debian-user@lists.debian.org Date: Friday, 13 August 1999 11:09 Subject: Re: hard drive error > > >Patrick Olson wrote: > >> > > hda: irq timeout: status=0xd0 { Busy } >> > > ide0: reset: success >> > > >> > I don't really know what causes this error, but I receive it also. smtp 550 is relaying.. ie your not allowed to bounce mail off your smtp port.. check your config btw that is a guess.. Re: Configuring PPP
I thought one should do pon providername.. Ie when you create your scripts with pon, you give them a name.. ie isp1 or ffx etc. So then I would use the following command to invoke it. pon ffx pon isp1 etc.. Try using the pon ispname(name you used when using pppconfig to create them) -Original Message- From: Isabelle Poueriet <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: debian-user@lists.debian.org Date: Wednesday, 23 June 1999 15:19 Subject: Configuring PPP >Hello List. > >Please excuseme if this questions has popped up recently. Re: Kernel 2.2.10
No.. I untared it etc, did the edit on the file saying the io/address range, compiled and the kernel sees nothing, I am yet to try the stallion support as a module, but I prefer it in the kernel and have never had problems, until it seem 2.2.9 and 2.2.10 which don't work with it compiled into the kernel. Re: Operation not permitted !?
I believe it should be this... or this is how I setup such a local network using tcp/ip. Excuse me if I am wrong.. Try this ip stuff... Debian Linux IP: 10.0.0.30 Netmask: 255.255.255.0 Broadcast: 10.0.0.255 or is it 10.0.0.254 (try both.. I am not thinking too well today) Network: 10.0.0.0 No gateway. Windows machine IP:10.0.0.31 or 10.0.0.20 as you had it.. Netmask: 255.255.255.0 As far as I can see.. I reckon it is your netmask and broadcast addresses the problem.. But like I say I could be wrong.. Regards, Michael -Subject: Operation not permitted !?
