choke on something like the above, type make again, and it will get
through the compile.

Most likely such gcc failures are caused by bad ram and/or processor
overheat.

deb file:/home/nikita/exp/packages sid/
to /etc/apt/sources.list, and places .deb files and Packages file (generated
by dpkg-scanpackages) there. It works: apt sees the packages, can install
them, etc.

packaged for sid, I think in the non-US section because of Fraunhofer
