how to configure a sound card

I installed Debian/GNU Linux 2.2 (potato) on my PC
and
I have no idea on how to get my sound card working.
I tried the commands:
sndconfig
soundconfig
but I had an error message.
Please help.

modem not detected

Hello,
I installed Debian GNU/Linux 2.2 (potato) on my PC but
when I tried to configure my internet connexion (by
wvdial) my modem was not detected.
I have an internal Motorola SM56 internal modem.
I noticed that 'wvdial' tried to detect the modem only
on the serial ports 'ttyS0' and 'ttyS1'.
Please Help.

problems with configuring X

My video card is a
'Trident Blade 3d PCI/AGP (ICP)'
When I installed X under Debian 2.2 r0 I choose in the
database the card number '688', that is:
'Trident Blade3D (generic)' and the 'svga' server.
But when I start X with
server 'svga'
driver 'Trident Blade 3D (generic)'
the computer blocs and I have no way to stop it.
When I specify (in the XF86Config):
server 'svga'
driver 'Generic VGA'
X starts, but the only graphic mode that I had is the
320x200 with a very big font.
So what can I do to repair all that ?

problems with configuring Debian

 I installed Linux Debian 2.2 r0 on my computer and I
need solution for the problems below:

1) My video card is Trident Blade 3D PCI/AGP (IPC),
so I installed the XF86_SVGA
   server but the computer often blocks when I
'startx'. I used to reinstall Debian. 
   When it works, the only graphic mode that I had is
the 320x200 with a very big police.

2) My network interface is a Realtek 8029 and I didn't
find in 'modconf' a driver for it.

3) My modem is a 'Motorola SM56 PCI speakphone Modem
#2' and was not detected.

problems with installing X

While installing Debian 2.2r0 on my PC, the graphic
card was not detected. 
The only  x-server that was installed is XF86_VGA16
and the script informs me that
I must later install the x-server XF86_SVGA but I
didn't find any may to
do that.
The graphic card on my PC is Trident Blade 3D PCI/AGP
(IPC).
So I will be very gratefull if you help me configuring
the x-server because
actually the graphic interface don't work correctly.
