Re: Help - WordPerfect still doesn't work (nor does Netscape)
If it is WordPerfect8 that you are talking of, and Netscape 4.x then the most like;y source of problem is non-availability of xpm4.7 library on your system. Just install this library from the oldlibs section, and things should be fine. I have suspected that the fact that it can't load the library has something to do with the fact that it won't run. However, I just installed Netscape Communicator. The installation ran without a hitch, but I get the same error message: can't start binary file. I'm running slink with the default (bash) shell. I notice, additionally, that trying to run the Runme script (as root) can't be done with ~/.Runme -- I have to use sh Runme. This is starting to get to me -- any help will be greatly appreciated. Re: Help - WordPerfect still doesn't work (nor does Netscape)
It sounds like you need to install xpm4.7 from the oldlibs section. To verify this, run ldd /usr/local/lib/wordperfect/wpbin/xwp (adjust the path to match your installation). If anything is listed as not found you'll need to install the relevant package. You can use the search form at http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages to determine which package contains the library in question. Here's the output from ldd on my system: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ldd /usr/local/lib/wordperfect/wpbin/xwp libXt.so.6 = /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXt.so.6 (0x4000d000) libX11.so.6 = /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libX11.so.6 (0x4005) libXpm.so.4 = /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libXpm.so.4 (0x400f1000) libm.so.5 = /lib/libm.so.5 (0x400ff000) libc.so.5 = /lib/libc.so.5 (0x40108000) libSM.so.6 = /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libSM.so.6 (0x401c6000) libICE.so.6 = /usr/lib/libc5-compat/libICE.so.6 (0x401cf000) On Sun, Aug 06, 2000 at 09:58:28AM +0800, Cam Ellison wrote: I have managed to get WordPerfect installed, but any attempt to start it gets an error message indicating something like can't start binary file.
