I use the amd64 port. Put deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ sid non-free in /etc/apt/sources.list Install sun-java6-bin and sun-java6-plugin. They bring in a few other packages including sun-java6-jre. Java5 cannot be used since sun-java5-plugin is not yet in unstable for the amd64
