Y si me actualizo a testing? funcionaría?

Gracias de antemano.

I'm using an S3 Trio3D using the XFree86 3.3.5 FrameBuffer. I used
the frame buffer howto at:
http://www.uno.edu/~adamico/banshee/files/vesafb.txt

to set it. Key to remember is that you use the hex values for command
line booting, and decimal values in lilo.conf. I run at 1280 x 1024,
16 bit color.

I've helped someone on irc with this card recently. Basically, if you look
in X docs, you'll know that card is not really supported. The only way to
get it to work is try VGA server and tweak in there. The most the person I
helped got out of it was 320x200.
I'd guess buy another card.

I had that problem; you're probably running slink, right? So you
probaby have XFree86 version 3.3.2, or something like that. There's no
support for S3 Trio3D in that version of X, but you may upgrade to
version 3.3.6, and it'll work fine.

Oh, yes, i have it too and it works good in 1024x768 and 32 bit color.
But, you have to upgrade to kernel 2.2.x and use the framebuffer device.
This gives you that nice little pinguin at boottime ;-)
you can find all necessary info in the source docs:
linux/Documentation/fb/framebuffer.txt and
linux/Documentation/fb/vesafb.txt

Than you can use X with XF86_FBDev X-server. I'v read in dejanews that
some others have it running also.
There's also a howto somewhere on the net, but i lost the bookmark :-(

Framebuffer HOWTO is at:

Good Luck!

or for 3.3.4:

Seems to be one of the only s3 cards that are not supported :(
