I've had absolutely no luck with sounds cards and Linux. I'm in a position to where sound isn't really important on the machines I use, but I want to hear what a penguin sounds like. I used to have an Awe64 but didn't hit on the trick of patching the drivers into the source and configuring it

I had no luck with it, but just couple of days ago I ran across an old SB16 card. One that comes with 2xCDROM, that has an IDE interface on the card itself. That card worked perfectly with kernel compiled to SB support. Dunno where you can get one of those antiques, though. I got it from a DX2
