Re: Tuxracer and 3D accelaration in debian
Hi, Has anyone run Tuxracer in debian testing? (XFree 4.03). Yes, I do (with my ATI Rage 128 Pro) Any ideas about the reason and how to fix it? Thanks. I got the 3d acceleration working immediately after installing xlibmesa3 instead of one of the other libmesa variants available for testing. Cheers, Thomas

Setting up accelerated 3D is very hardware-specific. Take a good look at the docs on dri.sourceforge.net, maybe that'll help -chris Steve Kieu [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Okay I try to run it from the console and here is some warnings but I donbt know what to do :-) $tuxracer Tux Racer 0.61 -- a Sunspire Studios Production (http://www.sunspirestudios.com) (c) 1999-2000 Jasmin F. Tuxracer and 3D accelaration in debian
Hi, Has anyone run Tuxracer in debian testing? (XFree 4.03). I noticed in my machine, it is very slow (can not use it) due to lack of 3D accelation. However in /var/log/XFree86.0.log DRI is enabled. Here ia an exerpt from that file (==) I810(0): Backing store disabled (==) I810(0): Silken mouse enabled (**) Option dpms (**) I810(0): DPMS enabled (0): X context handle = 0x0001 (0): [drm] installed DRM signal handler (0): [DRI] installation complete (II) I810(0): direct rendering: Enabled (II) Initializing built-in extension MIT-SHM I dont know whether it is a problem with tuxracer or XFree Any ideas about the reason and how to fix it? One problem I ran into with 3D acceleration in X is that DRI only works in 16bpp mode. Andrei -- First there was Explorer... Then came Expedition. This summer Coming to a street near you.. Ford Exterminator. -- Andrei Ivanov http://arshes.dyndns.org [EMAIL PROTECTED] 12402354 --
