since a few days I'm running kernel 2.4.0test4. Before I used to run test1
and everything was fine.
Now when I want to print I get
lp: driver loaded but no devices found
and lpq gives
waiting for lp to become ready (offline ?)
The printer IS of course ready, paper is available, etc

No. It is the alpha series (the beta one is without the pre).

I see the following in /var/log/messages when the kernel boots:
lp: driver loaded but no devices found
CONFIG_PARPORT=y
CONFIG_PARPORT_PC=y
Also, /dev/lp1 under 2.0.x becomes /dev/lp0 under 2.2.x. So check your
/etc/printcap and make sure you are using the proper device.

support option under `make menuconfig`.
