streaming audio to a file. It worked quite well.
Then I didn't have to do it for over six months and completely forgot what

fact that cellular is slow -- the beauty of a Debian box is that I can
schedule transfers for most things (e.g. mail, news, web pages I read
every day) and read them at my leisure.

Don't "remove" any drivers, but compile them as modules instead of
static parts of the kernel. For instance, if you need vfat support
for Windows disks, or ISO9660 for CDs, or sound support, or PPP for a
modem, you can compile all of those as modules and th

on your system. Win98 is effectively identical to Win95.
The programs you might use are LILO and loadlin. If you install them
on your Debian system, their documentation will appear in /usr/doc as
well.

a libc6 system. Upgrading to efax 0.9 from potato (which luckily
doesn't depend on the newer libraries) fixed the problem instantly.

efax.com encapsulates multiple-page faxes into a single TIFF, and all
of those programs display only the first page.
Can anyone recommend a program (preferably, of course, Debianized)
that will display all the pages of a fax-format TIFF?

installation system makes you select your options in *increments*?
Especially when, without apt, it makes you sit around for twenty
minutes on each cycle while pointlessly listing packages it *isn't*
installing?

I used strace and found that for some reason, acroread doesn't look
at that directory. I linked all the libXt* files into one that it
does search . . . and it segfaulted. So I deleted it and used xpdf
instead.
