Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Feedback

2002-11-06 Thread Burzin Sumariwalla
Hi Steve,

Declude's JunkMail is an excellent product, and gives the administrator a
great deal of flexibility in implementing an anti-spam solution.. I
purchased JunkMail Pro and Sniffer, both are working very well and are
blocking most of the SPAM our organization received (mostly pornography,
closely followed by opt-in nonsense).

Thinking back to when I had to sell the idea to my administration, I think
the Declude/Sniffer solution came in the second cheapest, and the most
recommended by the Imail community. (Postni came in lower due to special
pricing, but I didn't feel it was a good idea to farm out AV and filtering
responsibilities.). I believe the prices may have gone up since I
purchased the product a few months back, but I'm sold on the product the
user community and especially Scott are very responsive.

By the way, [EMAIL PROTECTED] did a fabulous putting together (and
providing advice on) AV/Spam/Imail upgrade package for us.

Phenomenal. After some tuning and testing, we now delete about
98% of all junk mail automatically. Another 1-2% gets hand sorted
and the occasional one slips through. We are not an ISP, and
don't use Declude Junkmail or Virus on multiple mail domains, so
you may want to seek opinions on those aspects.

With iMail's filters, we caught about 50% of the junk mail, and
spent a lot of time hand sorting.

Like others, I am pressed for time, and it has taken me many months to
implement the different options in JunkMail. It has been well worth the time
spent.

Our users/clients love it. One month after installing it, before setting up
weighting, the amount of SPAM into mailboxes was reduced by about 70%. The
weighting system brought that to about 90% reduced/marked.

Steve:

I have less than three hundred accounts on our Ipswitch Imail server, and we've been
using Declude
JunkMail for several weeks. The cost/benefit ratio for JunkMail is very favorable.
Tech support is
very good. However this is not magic bullet software; someone there must have time to
really study
the documentation and develop a good weighting system. I'm so busy here that I've
barely started
such a system. The next logical purchase to simplify my job would be SortMonster
Message Sniffer but
it'll be a while before our budget allows that. I don't know what special
considerations you might
have within an ISP. But I don't think you'll find a lot of complaints about JunkMail.

Being a newbie with Declude Pro, I can't think of
anything easier to use and implement. So far we have yet to set per-user
settings, global ones are just fine so far. It's amazing how much junk is out
there, and how much Declude will eliminate for you. While you're at it, Declude
Virus would be a nice addition as well, we just started it and it's simply
amazing. Scott's the man!
