Re: [Declude.Virus] Spool out of control
Recently a problem has developed where the SPOOL folder is accumulating huge (tens of thousands) of SMD files. These files build up very quickly. What is more worrisome is that some mail isn't being delivered. No bounce, undeliverable, or any other message from postmaster either. I have tested this and verified it myself. When I disable declude, everything gets delivered. This means that either [1] You are receiving a very large volume of E-mail, that IMail can barely handle without Declude, and enabling Declude pushes it over the edge, or [2] There is some problem with lengthy delays in Declude. For #1, you would need to analyze the E-mails to see the content of them (are they spam, virus, or a mail loop?). For #2, you should make sure that Declude Virus is not reporting any errors, and that the DNS server for Declude JunkMail is working properly (the first one listed in the IMail SMTP settings). When I look at the DECCON window, it frequently looks as though multiple copies of the same pieces of mail are being processed. Are you running IMail v8? There have been a few reports of IMail v8 calling Declude multiple times for the same E-mail when it is under heavy load. The system resources are maxed out when declude runs as well. That's very important. Is that CPU usage? If so, is it the Declude.exe processes that are using the majority of the CPU usage, or is it split between Declude and other processes? You can click on the CPU button in Task Manager (when viewing the processess) to see which programs are using the most CPU usage. If the CPU is at or near 100%, the problem isn't #2 above, it's #1 (a very heavy volume of E-mail). In this case, you first need to determine whether the mail is normal or not (something that is stoppable). If not, this is a sign that you are nearing the capacity of the IMail server (how many E-mails are you sending/receiving per day?). -Scott --- Declude JunkMail: The advanced anti-spam solution for IMail mailservers. Thanks for the help. It appears to have been a problem with the DNS server listed in the IMAIL SMTP settings. I changed it and everything seems to have settled down.
