Abbrevia looks good. 5 seconds slower than old PKZIP, thats acceptable for
what I want.
Anyone who knows Abbrevia shed light on this?

A couple of points - I think PKZip is still shareware, although how many
people pay for it I don't know, whereas 7zip is completely freeware. Also,
7zip compresses files to a smaller size at full compression. It does take
longer to zip and unzip large files when using the highest compression
