Is the gallery supporting(loading) only the .gif formats? If so I think
first thing to do is start supporting .png and .svg file formats?

I imagine that stuff people might use are the bullet points and maybe
rulers. We already have dialogs dedicated to each, so if that's all we
want to ship we could drop the gallery for good. Or do
