not able to switch workplaces, or start applications from the panel.

I was playing a youtube video on Firefox and it was skipping with lots of
harddisk activity.
I checked top and found that gnome-power-man was consuming 64% of my memory and
increasing. I killed it before it took down my system.
I should add that this is not normal.
I restarted firefox and played a youtube video without any problems.
I'm not sure if I can reproduce this. I will try.

It doesn't freeze, but takes much cpu time while moving thumbnails back
and forth rapidly. I think the issue has something to do with the
algorithm that calculates position of thumbnails.

i can confirm that ctrl-alt-del works to reboot when usplash hangs, and that
vga= combinations don't solve the issue.
imho we should look for a way to kill usplash when kernel notices that it's
going to resume from hibernation rather then starting the standard boot
sequence. at least until
sorry for repeated posts, but i just wanted to say that switching to
console (alt+F1) immediately after usplash has loaded allows the system
to resume correctly.

It also seems to kill g-s-d when I close my laptop lid,
which I believe may be related, though harder for me
to debug.
Is there any more information you would like me to
provide to get this bug moved out of the Incomplete
status?
