I can confirm this on an up-to-date amd64 hardy install. One bit of
detail is missing from the report (for me, anyway): After step 2 the
multi.ogg file plays and stops very soon but totem doesn't seem to think
it has stopped and continues showing the pause button instead of the
play button. After
The packages from Ted Gould's repository fixes my issue. Thanks a lot!
(I hope the updated package will be pushed to Hardy).
I'm not sure if this is the same bug/feature as above, but after
manually changing the backlight (using the brightness applet), gpm does
not seem to dim on idle.

Dont know if it is the same bug than the listed one, I'm not expert enough, but
terminal froze an crashed when changing background/font color. From white on
black to black on white.
