I think I have the same problem, but the symptoms are the exact opposite
- all PDFs are rendered zoomed out so far that they are unreadable. An
example screen-shot is attached. This happens with any PDF I try to
view. Oddly this only started happening yesterday, but I can't

than 4GB i need long filenames and it should be possible to read and

In the prop dia the type is mp3. Under preferred applications/multimedia
I've selected Audacity. Rhythmbox is very buggy. Sometimes Rhythmbox
launches when an mp3 is downloaded but most of the time Totem launches.
Most of Rhythmboxes podcast features never work.

Possible workaround:
I've modified my instructions for Hardy users by taking some advice given on
Launchpad. I'm not gonna add it to my how-to until I know how well it works.
Tell me if this works for you:
Copy and paste this into the Terminal:
sudo cp /usr/share/applications/vlc.desktop
final debdiff (verified that it works)
