No way to cancel a CD extraction

I can confirm the same issue. I am not using any flash-based storage,
just a regular hdd.
I upgraded 7.10 x64 --> 8.04 x64 on my Macbook Pro 3,1. Upgrade appeared
to go okay, and the machine starts, but login hangs. I can access tty.
Without gdm, 8.04 is a no-go for me. I've reverted back to 7.10.

with my current 8.04 (rc) installment, I tried to create an ubuntu710 on
a stick (pendrivelinux.com), but the I could not copy files onto the
stick, as the name differs every time the stick is inserted
the first time it is recognized correctly as ubuntu71
i can confirm this behaviour too. there is no output in stderr so i
can't tell why f-spot hangs on close

Clicking several time on the the exctract CD button queue again and again the
same
tracks for extraction. And since there is no way to cancel an exraction (bug
#223023)
this make the CD extraction experience not really user friendly.

I've traced down the problem to 04_brightness_events.patch, and built gpm
without that patch (and 03_always_get_hw_backlight.patch), and it works much
better.
Unfortunately, my C skills really suck, so i can't give you any help there :(
Just to be on the clear, you guys have no problem at bootup/

When starting a CD extraction, there is no way to cancel it without
quitting rhthmbox.
Sugestions :
- A cancel button in the status bar, near the progress bar.
- A cancel button near the extract CD button
- An extract button which is keept clic
Could you post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf please? Also, your ~/.nvidia-
settings-rc if you have one
