I think I have finally managed to find out where the problem is. I ran gksudo
displayconfig-gtk and changed driver from i810 to choose driver by model and
selected 845. It is put at 945.
When I changed that I clicked ctrl+alt+backspace and it tried to log back in
and it had some configuration
I'm getting more and more convinced that this is is an fglrx issue. I'll
post the details once I have a better idea of what's going on.

I have reinstalled the intel-drivers + the 915resolution package. It
seems like things have been fixed now, although I am not sure. I still
think this is related to the intel-driver.

Problems with Nautilus /
Here's a short clip that totem-gstreamer in Hardy can´t manage, but
every release of totem prior to Hardy played fine.
It's supposed to be only 4 seconds long; when I just tried it here I
stopped timing at over a minute - and it hadn't yet finished a FOUR
SECOND LONG clip.

I too am facing this problem.
I thought APE writes ID3 tags, but actually, it writes APETAG tags, and
yes they are stored at the end of the file, and yes Rhythmbox prefers
them over ID3 2.3 for display, but updates/writes ID3 instead.
Unfortunately, my file is also copyrighted (perhaps it
Sheduled for 2008-07-01 (8.04.1)? Is an joke or not?! Whats about an
Hotfix Package? LT_S(upport!?)_ ...Pulseaudio is a essential part of
the Soundsystem and many low level users don't know how to switch to
ALSA! When you want to provide Pulseaudio as Feature you have to keep it
running.

Hi there, i have tried both predefining as Alsa, and auto, neither work.
though when alsa, the app starts, but fails to produce audio output.

Yes I restarted gnome, but Thursday is the date of update (with a
script) and because the name of the package is the same, I tested with
the old version.

Just reproduced this bug.
Also, image thumbnailer is terribly slow: I have a dir with ~90 4-5mb
jpegs, thumbnail generation of every image takes about 15 seconds. AFAIR
it was much faster in Gutsy.

becomes unresponsive (running thumbnailer in same process?).

Actually, two months is pretty speedy for them. There are bugs that are
several years old they have yet to fix.

Besides, I think they only release security fixes and other show stopper
fixes until their next maintenance release (8.04.1). Since there is a
workaround and audio really isn't a huge concern anyways (for servers),
they don't see this as a show stopper.

I have a dvorak layout in Hardy. Every time I start X, it is reset to qwerty
although the System|Preferences|Keyboard|Layouts still shows USA Dvorak.
To fix this, I remove USA Dvorak, choose +Add, and add USA/Dvorak. Now I
can type in Dvorak again. I have to do this every single time I start X.
I forgot to mention that this happens to me on a Ubuntu 7.10 system as
well as on a Ubuntu 8.04 system.

Thanks for pointing out this. It seems that this is the same issue; in
particular, uninstalling tracker and killing all running instances of
trackerd fixes the problem.
