You know, I've been hearing this ever since NM appeared, and I still
don't understand why. SSH keeps *private*keys* in plain text files,
protected by nothing but file folder permissions (it allows users to
enter a passphrase, but doesn't even protest if they don't).

I was just playing with the new settings manager under 'System
Preferences Pop-Up Notifications' changed the theme a few times
between 'Default' and 'Ubuntu' and that was enough to
Behaviour confirmed.
Attached patch fixes this issue. Thumbnailer was failing to call
g_type_init as required.

I can confirm this on a laptop AMD Turion X2 RM-70, Intrepid AMD64.
At first I was mesmerized to find Avidemux running 4 times faster in
Vista than in Ubuntu on the same machine. Then I realized it was not
using all its cpu power, so I changed the cpufreq governor to
'Performance' and it worked
I ran evolution with the following command:
CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution evolution.log
This unfortunately created a 60 meg log file and has a lot of personal
data in there that I am not comfortable posting. I will be happy to to
look through it or send you parts of the log file if you can tell
