Okay so actually, this is an ATI/Xorg issue. I disabled the proprietary
driver, and it works fine, both with gnome-display and xrandr. Now, with
the proprietary driver (that I just enabled again), even xrandr slows
the computer to display, ran without arguments.

I can confirm this behaviour on both intrepid and jaunty.
The behaviour initially started after enabling automatic user login (in

Actually this seems not to be an evolution bug exactly. From what my
limited research can figure out, gnome isn't falling back to the hicolor
icon set or the hicolor set is lacking the required icons. The only way

I am using GNOME, yes.
dbus-monitor --session doesn't list anything at all,when I press the
non-working keys.
It does however list for the working ones. Do you want the output for
