There is already a preference in GNOME that that toggles between icons can be
placed everywhere, and icons are snapped to a grid. The size of the grid is
hardcoded in the source to a small value as a #define, and the grid width is
greater than the height.
What the supporters of this bug propose
Maybe disabling differently-scaled icons is the first step to improving
the Desktop's usability. If icons are scalable, but all scale to the
same degree, we can always draw a uniform grid to align them to.

It should have a trivial fix: do not accept drags from the same window.
The consequences, for PDFs which are scanned documents, are that if you
istinctively try to select text, or by mistake drag with your touchpad
over the evince window, you may need to hard-reboot or wait until the
system settles

Now I am confused.
I did not have this bug in 8.04 and I do have it in 8.10.
I verified the code in the patch before applying it.
If this only refers to 8.04, do I need to open a new bug?

Can you point me to an appropriate repository for cdrecord? It doesn't
seem to be in the Dell repos. I'll also need help adding that
repository for apt-get/Synaptic.

If I double click on a file .cpio.gz file-roller says
"there is no application installed for this file type".
Then if you gunzip the file and try again to double-click on it (now the
file is become .cpio) all works ok and the .cpio file was browsed.
Tested with Hardy and fil
