Bless you Mucku! My disk is not full but I started to get kernel error messages whenever I browsed with nautilus (Not with Thunar) one particular disk partition (1.8TB) and moving a tiny file from a directory to another would take ages. Removing ~/.local/share/gvfs-metadata solved the problem!
