One more thing, maybe it'll help:
When starting one of the broken streams in Rhythmbox, a workaround is to
immediately kill the new gvfsd-http process. As soon as that is gone, the
stream starts to play without any issues and can be stopped from Rhythmbox.

I agree, this is a HUGE usability regression. What is the point in having
alt+up to do this while the backspace button stays unused.
Also, not many are used to alt+up. This is very irritating for everybody,

Here is a debdiff of changes to pygobject to add Breaks of old aptdaemon
and software-center (older than the version currently uploaded to
raring-proposed, to fix postinst to deal with this issue), to avoid
running the postinst with the old code which causes this issue.

I also have this problem but mine extends to all devices. I can't see
any devices and even if I sudo mount -a then df -h it shows no
devices mount just shows dev/sdb1 (my ssd) and I have a hdd that
should be sda and a cd in, sd card in slot, 2 usb external drives???

rob, how much smaller than the viewport were you thinking the image
could be reduced? With eog, it will reduce to 1% of normal size, which
for a moderately-sized image is wa-aay too small to be useful. How far
down do you think you would want to reduce an image?

Very odd after I logged out and back in all devices showed up and
disappeared again then I rebooted and everything is normal. This kinda
stuff is what happens with windows all the time first time I've seen
Ubuntu act like windblows.

Yes. The same happens to me: Any folder different from /home/myuser does
that.
By the way: Can this new version of Nautilus show the status bar (in the
lower right area, right under the list of files)?
Also: Can I set the 'tree view' in the folders located to the left?
