In fact, now (as of beta1), it's even worse/irritating:
When I use the keyboard to adjust brightness, that works, but is
presumable handled by the machine itself/BIOS. However, at each
keystroke, the ibus tray icon changes it's visibility from hidden to
shown and back.

I'm now able to point out the most frequent cause of those crashes is
sending a message in empathy. the x server crashes the very moment i

A little update to this issue. on an updated Karmic machine as of
October 11 2009, this does not crash totem anymore.
The mp4 stream actually works fine.
The h.264 stream doesn't work (does not start playing), but totem stays
responsive.

Starman, I believe I have the same problem. Does the jitter also happen
for you when you move the cursor with the arrow keys?
Also, which fonts are you using? If I use the Liberation fonts, it does
not happen. If I use the Droid fonts, it does happen.

OK, sorry, I misunderstood the purpose of the applet. I still think
thought that it would be nice to have a simple way to inhibit not just
suspend, but also the screensaver. I know people who use PowerPoint in a

This issue does *not* really have a workaround, because enabling the
crossfading backend can trigger other bugs. See Launchpad bug 149389 and
upstream bugs. Either or should really be fixed. Besides RB 0.11.x is an

Some Ogg Vorbis file have a cracking noise when played back with the
non-crossfading backend in rhythmbox 0.11.x.
Just defaulting on the crossfading isn't a solution either, as with this
one I experience
Maybe the Ubuntu dev team could check with the Nautilus developers how
high on their agenda implementing XdndDirectSave is. If they reckon it's
unlikely they have this ready for Gnome 2.22, then an alternative
strategy might be to revert to the DnD Code of the older FileRoller
versions?

I'm now using the latest Ekiga (2.0.9) from the Ekiga website. There I
have the following codecs:
Speex, iLBC, GSM, MS-GSM, PCMU, PCMA, G726-16k, G721, LPC
*not* available are G711 and G729

Anyway it seems Ubuntu doesn't ship all Codecs that Ekiga supports? At
least on the screenshots on the ekiga site, more codecs are shown than
available on my system. Can a dev please comment on that?

I also just deleted the corresponding line from fstab. The drive
continues to work as it should, but Nautilus doesn't display a CD-ROM 1
anymore.

When I use deskbar to search for files with beagle, it lists the results
correctly. When I click on it, it opens the right application but passes
an invalid path to it. For example, evince complains that:

I was an Arch Linux user before. I cannot find anything in their build
scripts for the gstreamer base-plugins that would change the default
behaviour, so i just wonder why ubuntu is different here...?

make the opened window fullscreen to see the difference. attach the videofile
