Public bug reported:
In Ubuntu ~17 and earlier, when using Gnome-Shell, switching
applications via the standard alt+tab would bring up a display of all
the running gui applications, allowing one to be selected via mouse or

You could select an application by hovering over the
I just ran updates, rebooted, and retried, and it worked without issue.

Title:
Attached encrypted USB drive gets stuck
I use my laptop for development for systems that are standardized on
16.04, so I don't have the option to upgrade at the moment.
Also, I don't think this problem has been in 16.04 for very long. I've
attached encrypted drives dozens of times over the last couple years,
and have never had this

I used the standard tools in Ubuntu 16 to format and encrypt a large USB
hard drive for storing secure backups to. I then used that drive with
the standard "Backups" tool to capture periodic backups.
My hard drive recently died, forcing me to re-install Ubuntu 16. The re-
This happened to me after I loaded a 10GB Mongo database, which took up
50% of my 16GB of memory. Even after I freed up all memory by stopping
the Mongo server, Nautilus is now broken.

Over a year old and no update? Is there any work around?
I received this error shortly after upgraded Ubuntu 14.04 to 16.04. Then
I had a hard drive failure and had to reinstall Ubuntu 16.04 from

Under the "Edit" menu item, there was no "Preferences" item.
I think this is my misunderstanding over the new Gnome 3 UI layout. I
still think it's terribly unintuitive, but it seems only the
"Preferences" item has been moved to the "top menu", which I thought was
just the name of the program and

The "Brightness & Lock" dialog reports that my screen should turn off
when inactive for 5 minutes, and it should require my password to
unlock, but this never happens. On a fresh install of 14.04, I've left

According to this thread:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/459840/lock-screen-not-working-14-04
this problem is likely due to a bug in gnome-screensaver, in that the
14.04 package does not configure it to run at startup.

I've also encountered this with a RAID-1 array on 10.04. The degraded
status can usually be solved by simply re-attaching a drive, but since
this isn't done automatically, it'll only be done when I notice there's
a problem. And since there's no notification of a problem, I essentially
