bug with the environment; not a bug with apt. Does that mean a bug in
gnome-settings-daemon? I don't know.

update: gnome-display-properties works when in a Gnome session, but not

with gnome-display-properties does not work (the apply button has no
effect). Using xrandr on the command line works. Using xfce4-display-

The best work-around is to press Ctrl-0 to reset the zoom.
Appears to be related to the size of the image, not to the image format.
I converted the format of several images between jpg, png, and gif, and
the same image sizes caused issues with all 3 formats. (Though in some

253x253 is the smallest square image that exhibits the behavior.

onboard fails to
dpkg --debug -i output attached. The problem appears to be in the
REMOVAL script for the previous version of onboard (0.87).
Also, here is a work-around:
dpkg -r onboard
dpkg -i /var/cache/apt/archives/onboard_0.91_all.deb
