Really? What is the syntax you need to add now? Nothing added to the

Your last post was confusing. Are you totally sure that creating the
file with the contents I originally posted does not work? The file
being:
/etc/gdm/custom.conf
It is absolutely not acceptable to require changes to anything in /usr/
so there must be some way to modify something in /etc/

1. Get this IRS form: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw4.pdf
2. Open in terminal with 'evince fw4.pdf'. No warnings or errors are printed.

When I try to send e-mail, the mail just sits in the outbox and doesn't
get sent. There are no errors to speak of and this the first time I have
experienced this problem with e-mail in 5 years of using Evolution with
various versions of Ubuntu.
