evince is standard-installed by ubuntu-desktop.
With this configuration, my system does not display any PDFs
(application loads properly, correct page amount is showed, but grey

evince does
Thanks for that hint.
I am not using Visual Effects.
When switching back to evince for examination I had a ~100 errors
similar to this:
/var/lib/scrollkeeper/cs/scrollkeeper_cl.xml:469: parser error :
Premature end of data in tag ScrollKeeperContentsList line 2
all included the file above or
Invalidating my own bugreport... I can live with that and it is some crap in my

Thanks for sorting that out Pedro!
Do others have the same error when
sudo dpkg-reconfigure scrollkeeper (version 0.3.14-15ubuntu1) ?

Yes, it is working like that!
I can leave all other options in gdm.conf untouched or change them, it is
always the same:
Gutsy`s GDM will not connect to Gutsy.
But if I change to a console, I can start the XServer manually like Gustavo
Rahal proposed and it ALWAYS works for me:
X :1 -query
I have the same bug. Gutsy (GDM) tries to XDMCP to Gutsy. See the relevant
/var/log/syslog messages on the client side attached. The server side does not
log anything to /var/log/syslog. Changing to simple (einfach in german)
interface has no effect. BTW, I use the fglrx driver.
This is a bad
here comes the syslog when debug output is enabled. this time from the other
machine, not running on fglrx.
Please take this bug serious.
