bullseye. Obtained an oh-so-precious "mycert.p12" file and resolved

Typically this happens when I have 4 windows open. This seems to be a
new issue for me, dating back perhaps a couple of weeks. I've used this
particular 4 terminal setup for years without issues. When the issue
occurs, all terminal windows vanish instantly, and I need to
Ahaha so ubuntu-settings was rolled out into Lunar overnight NOT
gnome-control-settings.
I had forgotten that I had originally tagged the wrong app - in fact, I'm not
going to have to go and look up the difference between them :)

Just to add on to my last comment... something is really broken for my
configuration - after ten minutes of trying to get all three monitors to
wake up and play ball with the screen display settings windows and it
only ever enabling two out of the three (sometimes 1 & 3, sometimes 1 &
2 and
I believe I too am affected by this problem.
I have three monitors attached to my system all on the same GTX950
(GM206) adapter and after waking up from sleep the active windows move
around and most annoyingly the system often struggles to 'find' all
three monitors again - even though it shoes

Sorry - not a total noob here, but enough to embarrass myself... I had
to boot with "nomodeset" in order to get my machine to boot. That caused
the situation I described here. When I blacklisted the nouveau video
driver, I got my functionality back.
For those who know better how to fix these
Sorry, I should add that the pop-up window remained on top of all the others,
so it wasn't hidden behind anything else before I went to bed.
And although it was at the top, when I entered my password and the field went
grey, the window remained visible, but if I clicked anywhere in the window,

and the error triggered. So I rebooted. This time the error came about without
me touching it.

how this breakage got into an Ubuntu software update for the masses
almost 2 months after it was known that a kernel change had broken gdm3

Installing haveged fixed my issue so I'm pretty sure its the same as
this one. Therefore I won't create a bug of my own.

Turns out lightdm is working after all, almost. If you wait patiently
when the black screen appears after the Ubuntu 5 dots boot screen,
possibly as much as 4 minutes, then the desktop eventually appears,
albeit somewhat messed up, with a message box asking you to "unlock the
login keychain"
> which solves the problem
I don't consider switching to lightdm to be a solution the problem. It's a
workaround.

Which part of what I wrote you do you another bug about? The fundamental
issue, gdm doesn't work, hence no login screen, after the latest
kernel/gdm update is the same as this bug, so why create a duplicate?
The previous issues were with past distribution versions so filing a bug
is not
I'm suffering this after this update too. It is the latest in a
depressingly long list of Ubuntu updates that have ed up my system.
You really *need* better testing of updates. If you can't improve the
testing then there needs to be a way to roll-back the system to before
an update.
Instead
Evince 3.18.2: I never see a recent files list.

Exact same issue as Tom F.
Intel i7 920, 24gb ram and AMD graphics.
Upgraded from 17.10 and I get constant purple screen of death followed
by something about an authentication failure, even though my password is

Same for me after attempting to install GNOME Human Shell Theme
Collection, https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1171095/, using the Install
button, Human.zip file. It also removed Tweaks from Favorites, which I
was able to re-save from Dash. Tweaks does run. But Settings hangs on-
launch, then

I have made an Update (sudo apt-get install update) and than I´ve made (sudo
apt-get install gdebi).
Now I can run the Software Center on Debian as a virtual Machine.

I installed Ubuntu 17.10.1 today on my laptop, and got the same problem.
Opened settings and moved the dock to the bottom, and the settings
window just disappeared. The answer given in the following link helped
me to disable the second virtual monitor from the command line, and
restored the

I was running the: paulo-miguel-dias/mesa build
and the: oibaf/graphics-driversbuild
I uninstalled both and reverted to the standard ubuntu drivers/setup. This
fixed the mouse issue.
As both of the above adons have some popularity one of them may have been the
cause of the

The default behavior with netplan is dramatically different from
dhclient. You are going to cause a lot of headaches if you don't change
it to use MAC addresses and SendHostname by default -- or at least give
us a way to configure this behavior in Netplan.
